Built in
Photovoltaics
Traditional players in the Solar PV industry have focused on larger solar installations to achieve manufacturing scale. On the other hand, building material suppliers have traditionally focused on complex metal structures to integrate traditional glass PV panels on roofs.
None of these larger players have anticipated the recent switch of the global solar PV market towards the residential and small commercial segments through the implementation of esthetic, fully roof- integrated photovoltaics.
Back in 2008, our team had a vision of the solar market where solar PV would be merged into the landscape and into buildings. Larger solar projects would be limited to nearly deserted geographical areas, while urban living and the aspiration for decentralized and renewable energy would feed a market for residential micro-generation.
Superdome aims at speeding up the mass adoption of Building Integrated
Photovoltaics (BIPV) – in both residential and commercial buildings
worldwide.
Thanks to the unique technical features of the Superdome system, any residential
or commercial building, anywhere in the world, will soon be energy positive for
a cost comparable to a high end traditional roof.
After four years of development, Superdome has several technological phases of
advance as it offers a “True BIPV”, namely a seamlessly integrated photovoltaic
unit. Superdome is also significantly more affordable than existing or announced
products, thanks to a standard design, which allows for massive manufacturing
scale.
- 3 years of technical design and aesthetic improvements
- Product under constant improvement
- Outdoor real testing on mock roof
- A « full roof turnkey» solution for solar roofing with high aesthetic value
Among the 22 features covered by our patent, the single vertical Plug & Play for the mechanical and electrical interconnection of our tiles is key to our product.
We were first to patent this design in June 2009. Thus, Dow Chemical had to opt for horizontal plugs in their product (Dow patent filed in November 2009), which is much less efficient for installation.
Bottom line : a roofer can do the job faster, at a lower cost, without an electrician.
Our design offers a clean, “all inclusive” product easy to understand and to install: no cables, no junction boxes. Just plugs. The solar function has been merged in a one-block, elegant product that can take all shapes, textures and colors.
Our BIPV will set a new standard in Value for consumers.
